What is the Recruitment Process?
Recruitment is a series of events that gives potential candidates the opportunity learn more about Alpha Kappa Psi. In turn, it also allows the active brothers to know more about interested applicants. Our first three days of Recruitment (Informational Session 1, Informational Session 2, and Meet & Greet) are open to everyone, and prospective candidates are highly encouraged to attend at least one Informational Session of their choice and required to attend the Meet & Greet. At the conclusion of open recruitment, a select group of potential new members will be invited back for one or more events (Casual Night & Speed Dating) and may subsequently be offered an interview. The interview will feel very similar to a job interview and is an opportunity for potential new members to present themselves in a professional setting. Lastly, if our chapter feels that you are a good fit, we will offer you a bid.
What is a "bid?"
A bid is an invitation to participate in the pledge process, an 8-week professional enrichment program, in preparation to become a brother of Alpha Kappa Psi.
Do I have to be a business major to participate?
No, Alpha Kappa Psi is a co-ed professional fraternity that values the diverse nature of business and provides equal opportunity for candidates of all majors.
Is there an age requirement to participate in the Recruitment Process?
There is no age requirement to participate in the recruitment process, but we ask that you have at least 3 semesters remaining at CU.
Is there a GPA requirement?
No, Alpha Kappa Psi is not GPA exclusive. Although there is no minimum GPA requirement, it is still a factor we take into consideration.
Is attending all of the recruitment events required?
Yes, attendance is mandatory at Recruitment events (except Informational Sessions although we highly recommend attending) unless you contact us prior and alert us of your absence.
What are the professional benefits of joining Alpha Kappa Psi?
As a brother of the largest professional fraternity in the world, you will have access to exclusive recruiting events, a broad network of successful alumni, and a wide range of professional development opportunities. Some examples include case competitions, mock interviews, recruiting information sessions, and opportunities to serve on our executive board.
Can I be a member of another organization and still join?
Yes! Most of our brothers are actively involved on campus within other student organizations. It is even possible to be a member of a social fraternity/sorority as well as Alpha Kappa Psi. However, you cannot be in another organization under the Professional Fraternity Council.
What are the social benefits of joining Alpha Kappa Psi?
As a brother, you will become part of a tight-knit community of like-minded individuals dedicated to supporting and enriching each other’s collegiate experience. Although we do not have a house like a social fraternity, over half of the brothers in Gamma Zeta are roommates! You will have the opportunity to build meaningful, life-long friendships that will make a large campus like CU feel more like home.
